What it sounds like
“My stockbroker was buying and selling securities in my account without my knowledge or consent.”
Unless you signed a form granting your stockbroker or investment advisor “discretion” (permission to buy and sell securities in your account without contacting you before each trade), with very few exceptions, he/she is required to obtain your authorization before buying or selling anything in your account. Discretion is frowned upon by most brokerage firms due to the potential for abuse by the stockbroker or investment advisor. If you have received trade confirmations, or see securities in your account that you did not discuss with your stockbroker in advance of the purchase, you may have a claim for unauthorized trading and you should contact us without delay.
